These ceramic coated block hugger headers are built for tight-clearance Small Block Chevy installations where traditional long-tube headers are not practical. The compact center-dump shorty layout keeps the primary tubes tucked close to the block and routes exhaust below the center exhaust ports, supporting clearance in early chassis and classic SBC builds.
This header set is intended for Gen 1 Small Block Chevy V8 engines including 265, 267, 283, 302, 305, 307, 327, 350, and 400 cubic inch configurations installed in vehicles manufactured through 1959. Common applications include street rods from 1923 to 1949 with SBC swaps, 1955 to 1957 Chevrolet full-size cars such as Bel Air, 210, and Nomad using front engine mounts, and 1955 to 1959 Chevy and GMC trucks from the Task Force era.
Constructed from steel and finished with a ceramic coating, these headers maintain the same proven block hugger geometry used across the platform. The ceramic coating is applied as a protective exterior finish and does not change tube routing, flange placement, or collector position.
Design specifications include 1-5/8 inch primary tubes, 3/8 inch thick head flanges, and a 3-bolt collector configuration for straightforward exhaust connection. Collectors and mounting hardware are included as specified for this ceramic-coated SKU.
These headers are not compatible with vehicles using GM side engine mounts introduced in 1958, clamshell-style motor mounts used from 1973 onward, angle-plug cylinder heads, or frames with crossmembers or steering boxes positioned directly beneath or beside the center exhaust ports. They are not listed for vehicles manufactured after 1959. Test-fitting is recommended prior to final installation.
FITMENT
These headers are designed for Gen 1 Small Block Chevy V8 engines from 265 to 400 cubic inches installed in vehicles manufactured through 1959 using front or custom engine mounts.
CERAMIC COATING
The ceramic coating is applied as a protective exterior finish. It does not change header geometry, routing, or fitment and is not presented as a quantified performance or temperature reduction treatment.
INSTALLATION REALITY
These headers are intended for tight-clearance applications. Clearance varies by chassis, engine mounts, and steering configuration. Test-fitting before final installation is recommended.
WHAT THIS IS
A center-dump block hugger header designed for classic SBC builds where space is limited and early chassis layouts require compact routing.
WHAT THIS IS NOT
These headers are not compatible with side engine mounts, clamshell mounts, angle-plug cylinder heads, vehicles manufactured after 1959, or modern chassis layouts with crossmembers or steering boxes under the center exhaust ports.
